Exclusive (and limited to 350 copies) split 7" featuring Algodón Egipcio (Venezuela) and El Faro (Spain). Caracas-based loop-pop musician Ezequiel "Cheky" Bertho, aka Algodón Egipcio (which translates to "Egyptian Cotton" in Spanish) has a full-length, La Lucha Constante, on the US label Lefse. He grabs elements from all his influences, from Destiny’s Child to Lightning Bolt, and everything in between, and experiments with different dance rhythms, pop melodies, loops, textures and some noise. Algodón Egipcio has remixed songs by Dominant Legs or Foot Village. El Faro come from the Canary Islands, are well under their twenties which can remind you of Beat Happening, The Pastels or Comet Gain, but in Spanish and with a touch of The Smiths circa “Suffer Little Children”. In a more pedestrian language, El Faro are like a rejuvenated version of Sr. Chinarro or Los Planetas with bittersweet and witty lyrics.
