Early Day Miners are a slow-pop band from Bloomington, Indiana. Although rather than a band, they could be referred to as a concept; the union of a certain image (sober, elegant, moving) and a particular way of making sad music. In “The Sonograph”, exclusively conceived for Acuarela, they honoured us with six warm songs which linger between the clean sound of guitars and brief echoes, and where they let the vocals and melody take the lead over distortion and powerful rhythm. The diaries of “Albatros”, the shushed confessions in “Perish Room” and “Bedroom, Houton”, the instrumental beauty of “Bijou” and “Mosaic II” and the descriptive noise of “Misrach” form a magnificent pallet of geographic details, inner voyages and greatly educational sadness.
